Job Summary
The Phlebotomist (PSR I) represents the face of the organization to patients by providing high-quality blood collection and specimen processing services. This role requires strong patient interaction skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform procedures safely and accurately while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established practices and procedures.
Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and performing blood draws in a safe and accurate manner.
Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties.
Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
Maintain required records and documentation.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Perform other duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills
Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections
Strong customer service and patient communication skills
Keyboarding and data entry proficiency
Preferred Skills
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment
Medical assistant or paramedic training
Additional Skills
Strong organizational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Professional demeanor in patient-facing settings
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (required)
One (1+) year of phlebotomy experience (preferred)
Licenses, Certifications & Health Requirements
Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
State of Credentials / Licenses Required: CA Phlebotomy License
COVID-19 Vaccination Required: Yes
Scheduling & Availability
Must be flexible based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime
