Job Summary

San Luis Coastal USD is beginning to build an eligibility list for vacancies that may occur over a six month period for our Culinary Worker I position.

Team members in the Culinary Worker I assignment assist in preparing and serving foods; clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and facilities.

Positions are part-time, Monday through Friday, 20 - 35 hours per week, dependent on assignment.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Letter(s) of Recommendation (OPTIONAL: A signed letter from a professional reference (preferably drafted within the past two years, and on letterhead))
• Resume (Resume is optional. Completion of Work Experience Section of Application is required.)

Comments and Other Information

PURPOSE: To establish an Eligibility List for vacancies that may occur over a six-month period.

WORK YEAR: 181 school days. Fingerprint and TB clearances, and a pre-employment physical will be required prior to starting work.

TEST INFORMATION: ***ALL APPLICANTS MUST TAKE THE EXAM for this classification as part of the qualification process***

EXAMS FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 23, 2026.
A) 40% - A written examination covering skills, knowledge, and abilities required of a Culinary Worker I. Minimal written passing score is 70%.
B) 60% - An oral interview, covering personal qualifications, experience and training. Minimal passing score is 70%.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities must notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard, in time of war, or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
