Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Community Insights and Impact (CII) at the D'Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), the Program Manager (PM) manages key programs and activities of the CII team. The CII portfolio supports two primary efforts: 1) provide technical assistance to communities to better serve veterans and their families, and 2) identify leading practices and insights through stakeholder engagement and analysis to share within IVMF and external partners.
The PM supports the strategic alignment of the CII portfolio, IVMF's research, evaluation, and policy teams, and other stakeholders. The PM also supports strategic, and growth plans aligned with CII portfolio goals and IVMF's strategic imperatives and contribute to thought leadership development. Under the Director of CII, the PM collaborates closely with colleagues to support the CII business development strategy, identify opportunities with foundations and corporate funders, and assist in developing proposals and grant applications.
This position is anticipated to be filled on a fully remote basis if the identified candidate is not currently located in the Syracuse, NY area (within 50 miles). Strong preference for someone residing in Texas. Not all geographical areas within the United States are eligible. Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in public or business administration, public policy, public health, education, information management, social work, or social science.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years' work experience in program and/or project management, consulting, or related fields.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
Skills and Knowledge - Ability to use public information sources to analyze trends and identify partnership and learning opportunities related to veteran coordinated care and other relevant topics.
- Excellent communicator, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with leadership, colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ability to convey complex concepts in easily understandable ways to diverse audiences.
- Experience and discipline to successfully manage multiple, concurrent projects; can meet deadlines with competing demands.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Project/Program management experience and training (e.g., PMP certification) highly desirable.
- Preference to veterans, military spouses, or those with experience working with veteran, military, and/or military family stakeholders, and familiarity with government programs and services for veteran families.
ResponsibilitiesProgram Operations & Execution - Serve as primary client POC while leading and supporting project teams in executing plans.
- Develop, facilitate, and lead project-specific activities including stakeholder interviews, focus groups, presentations, and grant report authoring.
- Manage program budgets and create Standard Operating Procedures to streamline operations, enhance outcomes, and scale impact nationally.
- Coordinate communication between project teams and partners to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
- Elevate risks and vulnerabilities to director with recommendations for appropriate mitigation responses.
Project Materials & Documentation - Conceptualize and create high-quality project materials including reports, proposals, contracts, and deliverables.
- Lead quality checks to ensure all outputs meet organizational standards, to include periodic review of internal SOPs.
- Provide comprehensive project support including document editing, internal/external communications, meeting coordination, and team organization.
Program Planning & Client Engagement - Engage current and potential clients and partners to understand needs and develop tailored project scopes and statements of work.
- Create foundational project plans and frameworks for assigned initiatives.
- In partnership with the Director and Development team, identify and cultivate opportunities with foundations, corporate partners, and clients for the Community Insights and Impact portfolio.
Strategic Development & Reporting - Conduct in-person and virtual client/partner engagement to strengthen relationships and assess evolving needs.
- Prepare data-driven reports and success stories for internal leadership and corporate sponsors.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with IVMF departments (Marketing & Communications, Development, Data Solutions, Budget) to achieve program goals.
