Amergis is seeking compassionate, reliable, and safety-conscious Mental Health Technician/EMT to join our team. This role supports the daily operations of a secure inpatient psychiatric facility, providing direct care and supervision to patients experiencing acute mental health crises.

Location : Santa Barbara, CA

Pay Rate: $23-$25/hour (paid weekly)

Schedule : Per diem with potential for full-time hours

Shifts : 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling

Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of patients in a locked psychiatric setting

- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, meals, and mobility

- Observe and report changes in patient behavior or condition to clinical staff

- Support therapeutic activities and group sessions under licensed staff direction

- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, incidents, and observations

- Prepare and serve meals cafeteria-style (Food Handler's Card required)

- Follow facility policies, including de-escalation and crisis intervention protocols

- Participate in shift handovers and communicate effectively with the care team

- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the facility

Qualifications:

- Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric care required

- EMT certification is a plus

- Comfortable working with high-acuity psychiatric patients

- Food Handler's Card (or willingness to obtain)

- Strong communication and crisis management skills
