WORK DAYS: 260 days, 12 months per year - 260 Day Work Year Calendar
Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
SALARY: Range 26 - salary placement from $4,147 to $5,299 monthly
Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience or additional skills.

TITLE: BUS DRIVER TRAINER

JOB SUMMARY
Teach classroom and behind-the-wheel training for school bus drivers. Under supervision to operate a school bus transporting pupils to and from school and school activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
a. Required:
1. High school graduation or its equivalent.
2. Five years or more as a California school bus driver.
3. Knowledge of operation of a school bus; California Vehicle Code; regulations and laws pertaining to pupil
transportation in California; first aid practices.
4. Ability to act calmly and sensibly in stressful situations; react appropriately in emergencies; understand and
carry out oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative relations; use good judgement; teach effectively;
operate all school bus-related equipment.
5. Appropriate State licenses and certificates to operate all school buses without restrictions; DL-51 Medical
Certificate; valid California certificate of completion for School Bus Driver Instructor course.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Teach state-required classroom course.
2. Monitor and maintain driver records and make appropriate notifications.
3. Teach behind-the-wheel training
4. Assist Transportation Supervisor with bus evacuation drills and bus loading and unloading difficulties.
5. Perform behind-the-wheel checkout for school bus drivers.
6. Operate a school passenger bus.
7. Maintain discipline on bus.
8. Submit daily and other report as required.
9. Check and service water, oil and gasoline or diesel levels.
10. Responsible for interior cleanliness of assigned bus.
11. Keep vehicle maintenance department appraised of mechanical problems which might affect operation of bus.
12. Responsible for updating route sheets for assigned routes.
13. Perform bus evacuations.
14. May originate and present programs as requested by Transportation Supervisor, for safety or inservice meetings.
15. May assist with dispatch duties as required.
16. Perform other duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to ascend and descend steps.
3. Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids.
4. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
5. Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
6. Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop.
7. Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
8. In an emergency, must be able to perform evacuation of students from bus.
9. Ability to reach in all directions.
