Astound Broadband is currently searching for a Construction Manager in our San Luis Obispo, CA office, playing a vital role ensuring quality and timely deliverables of our services building fiber to our customers.

Responsibilities
- Drive accountability for the capital budgets and schedules associated with construction projects, along with safety and quality of work performed.
- Identify fiber routes, building entry, and internal routing requirements necessary to complete the project.
- Plant Protection: ensure security and protection of middle mile infrastructure.
- Delegate permitting to permitting team or third-party engineering vendors.
- Assess engineering and construction project costing using contractor matrices and issue work to contractors using RT.
- Issue work orders to internal and external resources following established company processes and procedures.
- Accurately update costing in financial systems to reflect current costs and compare against approved budgets.
- Develop, coordinate and execute project schedules with contractors, property management, customers, vendors, internal stakeholders, municipalities and government agencies.
- Inspect active construction projects to ensure adherence to company, municipal or government guidelines related to installation of Wave infrastructure.
- Complete post-construction plant walk-out including as-builts necessary to fulfill company standards, utility and local government requirements.
- Coordinate and participate in various internal meetings and conference calls to ensure communication and alignment of initiatives.
- Provide training and support for Fiber Construction Lead I–III.
- Serve as a market-neutral subject matter expert on fiber construction solutions and best practices.
- Identify permitting authorities based on proposed routes including municipalities, government entities, utility owners and other agencies with authority over the right-of-way.
- Complete necessary permit applications and checks to fulfill permit requirements; visit permitting authorities to submit applications and obtain status.
- Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Qualifications
- 10+ years of construction management experience.
- Ability to manage and complete multiple projects; complexity and budget value increase with level progression (Fiber Construction Lead I through Manager).
- Expert understanding of safety construction practices and competent person training certification.
- Expert understanding of fiber route planning and engineering for building entry and network expansion projects.
- Expert understanding of the permitting process for railroad, DOT, cities, counties and pole owners.
- Expert understanding of fiber splicing and installation practices.
- Expert understanding of network topology.
- Expert knowledge of fiber optic principles and methodology.
- Expert understanding of GIS.
- Ability to build and establish effective relationships with municipalities, government agencies, property management, vendors, etc.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to track and analyze data against project forecasts.
- Strong critical-thinking, attention to detail and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without supervision.
- Ability to provide training and support for Construction Lead I–III.
- Ability to live within 30 miles or a maximum 1-hour commute during regular commuting hours from the assigned territory.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance with a satisfactory driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Education
Required: High School Diploma or equivalency.

The base salary range in California for this position is $85,000.00 - $125,000.00, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. Actual pay will vary based on skills, experience, and capabilities. This range is specific to California and may not be applicable to other locations.
