KSBY, the E.W. Scripps NBC affiliate in San Luis Obispo, CA, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist to join our team. As a Multimedia Journalist you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the local community through compelling storytelling and community involvement. You will report, write and capture visual content and edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadline, such as Internet and digital channels.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

1. Receive assignment or evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
2. Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
3. Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
4. Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
5. Edit, or assists in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.
6. Appear on television program when conducting taped interview or narration.
7. Give live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
8. Work cooperatively with photographer assigned to story, if one is assigned.
9. Assist news producer in preparing newscast.
10. Assist online staff in preparing for multimedia stories.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1. BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
2. Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

1. Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems.
2. Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
3. Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.
4. Edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar equipment.
5. Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
6. Proficient at posting content to various websites.
7. Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
8. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
9. Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Hourly: $25.97 - $30.77. Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in California.
