Overview:
A well-established and collaborative engineering team is seeking a Water Resources Engineering Project Manager to lead technical project execution, team supervision, and client engagement efforts on high-impact infrastructure and environmental projects. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Civil Engineer who enjoys combining technical depth with leadership responsibilities and is ready to take ownership of projects across California's Central Coast.
What You'll Do:
Lead multidisciplinary water resources engineering projects from concept through delivery
Supervise and mentor design teams including engineers, drafters, and subconsultants
Oversee drainage studies, hydraulic modeling, floodplain mapping, and stream restoration design
Ensure regulatory compliance with FEMA, RWQCB, SWRCB, and local post-construction requirements
Manage contracts, schedules, scopes, budgets, and client communications
Prepare proposals, participate in RFP/RFQ responses, and lead project interviews
Engage with clients and public agencies to support project success and long-term relationships
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Registered California Professional Civil Engineer (PE)
6+ years of water resources engineering experience
2+ years of project management experience with supervisory responsibilities
Strong communication, leadership, and client service skills
Technical Expertise in the Following Areas:
Drainage and detention basin design
Hydraulic and hydrologic modeling
Sediment transport modeling and stream restoration
Floodplain studies and FEMA compliance (e.g., LOMCs)
Water quality design (LID, HMP, BMPs, TMDLs)
Software Proficiency :
SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Geo-RAS/Geo-HMS
AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation
ArcMap (v10+), WSPGW, LSPC/SUSTAIN
Skills & Credentials:
Experience with Central Coast PCRs and regional regulatory agencies
Familiarity with public works procurement processes
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Certifications such as CFM, PMP, QSD, QSP, LEED, ENV-SP
Programming or automation experience a plus
