POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT PROGRAM MANAGER

PROGRAM/LOCATION: Adult Transitional Program- San Luis Obispo

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assistant Managers for the Adult Transitional Programs assist with trauma informed supervision of residents and staff, ensure a safe and healthy living environment, perform moderate household maintenance, and are expected to be knowledgeable and skilled in all aspects of the program including coordinating, implementing, and evaluating resident services. Assistant Managers must be capable of assuming program responsibilities in the absence of the Program Manager and uphold and promote the program philosophy in all duties performed. The Adult Transitional Program assists residents in developing healthy coping tools, establishing a healthy daily routine, which includes utilizing community based support groups and increasing independent living skills including cooking, cleaning, budgeting and increasing medication management skills.

HOURS/ SALARY:

Full-time, Exempt position. Typical schedule is M-F but on occasion will need to work nights and weekends. Requires on call schedule that is shared with Program Manager. Anticipated hiring range is $70,720-$73,720 annually. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment in which residents may develop social, vocational, independent living, and effective life management skills.

2. Develop and foster a safe living and working environment for both residents and staff by encouraging open and honest communication and developing trust-based relationships.

3. Assist in scheduled client intakes, admissions, and discharges; monitors and evaluates client progress with program plans and goals; advocates for all aspects of a client's mental health needs; and assists with referrals to other community services, agencies, or programs.

4. Requirement of on call schedule that is a shared responsibility with the Program Manager. Being aware that the nature of this 24/7 program a staff member is needed on site at all times. If staff are unable to work a shift due to illness then it is management's responsibility to get shifts covered or cover it themselves. This can be on nights and weekends as needed.

5. Promote general cooperation and support for the program clients; this may include coordinating recreational and educational activities, assisting clients with medical, familial, self-esteem, or other needs, encouraging clients to develop a community support system, mediating staff and/or client interactions, providing crisis intervention, and/or transportation.

6. Promote, encourage and maintain trauma-informed practices in all services and activities. Practice and promote, both individually and in team meetings, TMHA's Collaborative Communication Guidelines in order to facilitate clear, empathetic and person-centered communication.

7. Monitor and coordinate household, yard, program, vehicle, and facility maintenance.

8. Implement agency procedures and ensure accurate and complete program paperwork; this may include rental agreements, resident files, medication logs, client rents, time sheets, petty cash, grocery trips, inventory, and/or units of service forms. Including SLOBH electronic record keeping and charting. Assist in following all Community Care Licensing documentation and DHCS requirements for certification. Support Program Manager is getting ready for audits by gathering documentation and participating in review.

9. Help select, train, supervise, and develop program staff, this may include interviews, evaluations, consultations, terminations, hiring and scheduling staff.

10. Monitor and coordinate medication, medication records, and other daily medical needs.

11. Act as agency liaison; this may include contact, interactions, and/or appointments with placing agencies, treatment services, treatment teams or residents' family.

12. Complete required hours of in-service training, minimum of 20 hours mental health specific each year, others as needed.

13. Assume other duties and responsibilities required of residential counselors and as assigned by the Program Manager.

JOB ENVIRONMENT:

1. Moderate, physical activity and frequent driving; may include moving or lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to navigate and climb up and down stairs.

2. Position immediately supervises one or more employees and supports the team approach to meeting program objectives.

3. Involves moderate risks that require safety precautions and the risk of exposure to potentially intense situations.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor's Degree in a related Human Services field and at least one year of direct care services in a behavioral health setting. OR High School graduation, or GED, and two years full-time related work experience with psychiatrically disabled population.

2. Must be available for on call rotation schedule, including nights and weekends.

3. An awareness of trauma informed principles and evidence based practices.

4. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style and strong oral/written and communication skills.

5. Well defined organizational and time management skills.

6. Ability to work independently and flexibly.

7. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision-making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure.

8. Able to work effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of age, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or socio-economic level.

9. Ability to work well within a team and maintain a professional, respectful attitude in the workplace.

10. Ability to be willing to work with supervisor oversight and direction.

11. Attendance is an essential function of this job that requires face-to-face interaction with clients and/or other employees.

16. Conditions of employment include:

• Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver's License, at least 2 years driving experience, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA's current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance.

• Must comply with a TB assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting.

• Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.

• Ability to possess and maintain good physical and mental health.
